Dr. Christopher Harmon surveys terrorist groups of the 20th century, including the Anarchists, the Bader-Meinhof group, the Quebec Liberation Front, Los Macheteros, Basque Homeland and Freedom (ETA), and the Colombian FARC, and analyzes the factors that led to their demise. He looks at the different stages that terrorist groups can go through, and at the tactics and strategies used by law enforcement, security forces and law makers at the various stages to bring terrorist groups down. This briefing has vital lessons for today’s fight against Al Qaeda and associated groups, both domestic and international.
