Colonel (retired) Tom Wilhelm is the director of the Foreign Military Studies Office, a U.S. government open-source research organization that focuses on foreign perspectives of defense and security issues. He has served as associate dean for Eurasian studies and faculty member with the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, as defense attachĆ© in Mongolia and Tajikistan, and in arms control and military command and staff assignments in Europe and the United States. During his military service, Colonel Wilhelm served as the Director of Defense Resources for the Office of Military Cooperation-Afghanistan and the Chief of Ground Forces Liaison with Office of the Defense Representative-Pakistan. He has participated as a guest of the Pakistanās Frontier Corps to study security forces in Pakistanās Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Northwest Frontier Province, and continues to examine this subject and lecture on it.
