One Lord Or Many Gods? Can the God of the Bible and the God of the Koran be the same?

with The Rt. Rev. Julian Dobbs, Convocation of Anglicans in North America

Friday, May 11th, 2012 6:30 – 8:00 pm At St. John the Beloved, Adult Education Room, 6420 Linway Terrace, McLean VA 22101

Many people believe that all faith–all religions are worshipping the God of the Bible, they just go about it through different means and in a variety of different ways. In this presentation Bishop Julian Dobbs will explore the nature and character of the God of the Bible and the God of Islam by looking at similarities, differences and divergences. From a Christological foundation in the Gospels of the New Testament, Bishop Dobbs will examine the Jesus who is revealed as God the Son with the Isa [Jesus] of the Koran and share insights from Christians in the Muslim world who faithfully declare the Gospel once for all entrusted to the saints.

The Rt. Rev. Julian M. Dobbs is a Bishop in the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA), a missionary initiative of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion).  Bishop Dobbs is also a member of the College of Bishops of the Anglican Church in North America.  He is a member of the Archbishop’s cabinet and the Executive Committee of the Anglican Church in North America. Bishop Dobbs is also the newly appointed Director for Global Relations for Barnabas Fund, based at their U.S. office in McLean, Virginia.  He will be helping to raise awareness of persecuted Christians and the challenge of resurgent Islam.  He has traveled extensively and ministered with the Suffering Church across six continents, including Laos, Malaysia, Syria, Egypt, and North Korea. Following the Indian Ocean Tsunami, the Bishop’s work in Aceh, Indonesia, was recognized by the New Zealand Government, who awarded him with the New Zealand Special Services Medal.  Julian presented a weekly 60-minute Christian television program for nine years in Nelson, New Zealand.  He holds both a Masters and a Licentiate in Theology and believes that the Gospel Message of the Lord Jesus Christ is the power of God unto Salvation.
